An Anglia TV news report from 1994 showing the start of restoration work by  IWA Ipswich Branch and the Waterways Recovery Group at Bosmere Lock.

An Anglia TV programme 'Take it On' made in 1999 showing the  restoration work by  IWA Ipswich Branch at Creeting Lock.

Anglia TV again in 2001 showing further restoration work at Creeting Lock, this time by the Waterways Recovery Group.

A few years ago Paul Heiney presented a series of programmes on ITV Anglia called Secret Rivers in which he canoed down some of East Anglia's most beautiful and often overlooked rivers. In this clip from 2007 he took a trip down the River Gipping. The video is in two parts because YouTube will only allow a maximum of 10 minutes per clip.

This 10 minute video was created from an 8mm movie discovered by Ted Nash. It was made by Jeffrey Burton who along with Ted was a director of D Quinton & Sons, Corn Merchants of Station Yard, Needham Market. Ted found the film in Jeffrey's effects after he died.
According to the board laying on the ground in the opening scene, Jeffrey shot the film in July 1968. The film shows in detail how the turbines in Hawks Mill were operated and then continues up river, finishing at Pickerel Bridge in Stowmarket.
The original film cassette notes that it is 'Part 2'. Unfortunately Ted cannot find Part 1 but it may be held in the Suffolk Record Office as many of Jeffrey's records were deposited there.
